Kerwin Betancourt

I'm a senior at Elgin High School in Elgin, IL, originally from Ponce, Puerto Rico. I'm an aspiring bilingual sports journalist, play-by-play commentator, and media producer. My broadcasting journey began with competitive esports, where I discovered my passion for live commentary and production. Since then, I've produced more than 60+ varsity esports broadcasts, developed a custom broadcast production system called Project Puppy, and expanded into traditional media.

In October 2026, I called my first solo varsity football game on WEPS 88.9 FM and covered Senior Night as a sideline reporter for my school's Buzz Crew, interviewing athletes and members of the school community. My goal is to tell compelling sports stories through play-by-play commentary, journalism, and multimedia production for English- and Spanish-speaking audiences.
